In this tutorial I will show you, how to install Yosembiance theme on Ubuntu 16.04.
Yosembiance is smoothed and slightly flattened version of Ubuntu default theme Ambiance and it is modified by Brain Sundman, he tried to make this theme more beautiful and he succeeded, the Ubuntu’s default theme Ambiance is also beautiful there is no doubt about it.
The initial release of this theme was in 2014 and with the passage of time Brain also made this theme available for newer Ubuntu versions. There is blue version too, if you don’t want to stick with orange one then you can choose blue for your desktop. You can use Unity Tweak Tool, Gnome-tweak-tool or Ubuntu-Tweak to change themes/icons.
Below is a screenshot of my terminal after having installed the theme. As you can see, it keeps the rounded corners of the Ambiance theme, and an orange highlight when you mouse-over items, but this has a darker top window handle and right-click menu.
Simply run the commands below:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:noobslab/themes sudo apt update sudo apt install yosembiance-gtk-theme -y
Then open the tweak tool and select one of the Yosembiance themes. There are 4 variations, with the change being between a blue/orange mouse-over and the darkness of the title bar.
