How to restore backup of XEN VPS from FTP server to SolusVM

In this tutorial I will show you, how to restore backup of XEN VPS from FTP server to SolusVM.

Please follow the below steps carefully and its super easy to restore XEN VPS’s to SolusVM.

  1. Note down the VPS IP,VMID and VserverID respectively.
  2. Delete it from Solusvm and Create it from WHMCS.
  3. Go to the Backup server to rename the the Backup file and configuration file and config.dat file. You would need to rename all these three in your backup server.
  4. Edit the config.dat file of each VPS in backup server and change the LVM path inside it.
  5. Restore the Backup now.

Still confused.. I’m clearly explain the case now.

Step 1: You have to rename the backup file name with the newly created VPS parameters in the ftp server and then restore the backup using /scripts/ftp-restore

https://documentation.solusvm.com/display/DOCS/Restoring+Backups

E.g)

<VSERVERID>-xen-<vmID>-<ROTATION>.bz

change this to,

<NEW VPS VSERVERID>-xen<NEW VPS xen ID>-<ROTATION>.bz

Step 2: Rename the configuration file and config.dat with the NEW XENID and VSERVERID details

e.g) OLDvmID.cfg —————–>NEWvmID.cfg

e.g) config-OLD-VSERVER-ID.dat —————> config-NEW-VSERVER-ID.dat

Step 3 : Edit the config-NEW-VSERVER-ID.dat file and mention the correct LVM path and VMID properly.

Step 4 : Restore the backup now

That’s it!!
